JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The K-12 Art teacher will create a welcoming and inclusive class environment favorable to learning and personal growth for all students in alignment with the district's mission and core commitments.
IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
* Plan and implement instruction based upon district standards and best instructional practices aligned to the K-12 instructional model.
* Implement the instructional program, including practices to support a multi-tiered system of support.
* Establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.
* Understand and implement culturally responsive curriculum which is standards based.
Assessment
* Utilize formative and summative assessment to monitor and differentiate instructional practice based upon learners.
* Analyze class building, district, and state assessment data to inform curriculum implementation and instructional decisions.
* Document student progress, learning, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents/guardians and administration regarding student progress.
Resource Management
* Create a safe and positive learning environment to support all students.
* Maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities.
Working with Students
* Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to be productive citizens.
* Continually support student growth academically, socially and emotionally.
Maintaining Effective Communication with the Community
* Collaborate with colleagues, district leadership and families to create a classroom culture that supports high expectations for student learning.
* Provide regular and effective communication with families to support home/school connections.
Other
* Abide by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement.
* Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse etc.
* Observe strict confidentiality regarding student data and information.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Valid teaching certificate for the State of New York with required endorsement in area of assignment
* Prior experience in the school setting preferred, but not required.
AUTHORITY
* The K-12 Art teacher is directly responsible to the building principal and district leadership.
