Software Engineer (C/C++) (BE-ICS-STF-2025-69-GRAP), Geneva
This position involves working within the CERN Siemens collaboration on advanced industrial control software and research.
Your responsibilities
Evaluate and implement automation concepts using Siemens Industrial Edge Ecosystem and Virtual PLCs.
Develop monitoring solutions for PLC deployments to ensure efficiency and scalability.
Research open-source Large Language Models to enhance automation and predictive maintenance.
Collaborate with Siemens Foundational Technology on joint R&D activities.
Your profile
Skills
Advanced knowledge of C/C++.
Proficiency in Python programming.
Experience with Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Edge or embedded computing background is a plus.
Experience with Large Language Models is a plus.
Fluent in English or French, with a willingness to learn the other language.
Eligibility criteria
Be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
Hold a Master’s degree with 2-6 years of experience or a PhD with up to 3 years of experience.
Have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
Additional Information

Contract duration: 24 months, possible extension up to 36 months.
Working hours: 40 hours/week.
Start date: 01 August 2025.
