Company Description
At CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Job Description
Introduction
You will join the IT Department’s Fabric and Communication Systems (FCS) Group within the Data Centres (DC) Section, where you will contribute to the operation and support of CERN’s Data Centres and associated computing facilities. The section is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of computing equipment, as well as developing, maintaining, and integrating software applications with existing facility monitoring systems.
During CERN’s Accelerator Long Shutdown 3 (LS3) and beyond, you will support major data centre expansion and upgrade projects aimed at almost tripling the current hosting capacity, which is required to support future LHC runs and their increasing computing demands. Your role will involve assisting with infrastructure deployment, system integration, and operational readiness to support future computing requirements.
