Summary
We are seeking an experienced Product Quality Engineer to join our Quality team and help deliver the absolute best cycling experience to Specialized riders worldwide. In this role, you will work on our most advanced and innovative road bikes, partnering closely with Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure exceptional performance, rideability, durability, and visual execution. Beyond functional quality, you will play a key role in safeguarding the design intent and cosmetic excellence of our bikes, ensuring every detail meets Specialized’s premium standards. The role will be based in our Cham Innovation Center.
Main Tasks
Support the development process for Road Bikes
Follow NPD (New Product Development) projects for new Road Bikes
Identify and mitigate product risks starting from the concept phase throughout the NPD process
Be the counterpart to engineering that challenge product architecture and design choices
Define and execute mitigation plans for the risks and validation plan for Bike parts and assemblies
Bring the customer perspective and ensure highest quality of the product
Monitor field returns, customer feedback, and reliability data (with field quality and rider care teams)
Feed learnings back into next-generation product development
Ensure seamless integration of all bike components
Support Product Managers and Engineers to ensure the achievement of quality standards
Drive the resolution of issues emerging during the development
Own product quality readiness at each project gate
Consolidate inputs from SQE, FQE, testing, and engineering into a single risk view
Ensure no open critical risks at product launch (or explicit, managed deviations)
Act as the single point of accountability for product quality sign-off
Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or related field)
3+ years of experience in Product Development or Quality Assurance, preferably in consumer products
Hands‑on experience with mechanical systems or bikes
Solid knowledge of Problem-Solving methods, DFMEA, SPC and Six Sigma
Ability to interpret and challenge engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T
Excellent communication skills as you will collaborate with quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams based in Europe, US, and Asia
Willingness to travel, roughly 40% of the time in Europe and Asia
Excellent written and spoken English skills are required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in manufacturing of composites
Experience defining and validating test plans (fatigue, impact, structural, environmental, cosmetic durability)
Knowledge of Jira/confluence tools
Knowledge of German and/or Mandarin as a plus
Experience within a manufacturing environment and with assembly techniques
Experience with road bikes as a rider or mechanic
Passion for cycling and real-world riding experience on performance road bikes
