Mechanical Design Department - Battery Business functions we cover are HV battery packs, modules, prototype manufacture and build. In addition to this we support business development feasibility studies and advanced research projects for the next generation of our technology to come to the market.
Working with our experts and system designers within the organization, we design, develop and deliver robust products from concept through to production ensuring these meet our customer's requirements and specifications.
The team is growing as is the business and our customer portfolio, these roles are all new roles to meet the future demands across all areas we support.
Who are we looking for in you? Ideally you will have been working within the automotive sector but this is not essential, you will have experience bringing successful products to market. The below role covers all areas of the business and its not expected that you fulfill all but those which relate to your area of specialism.
Where necessary based on the role you seek, a level of leadership experience, people management and project management will be required.
Responsibilities Engineering & design of battery pack components or subsystems
Defining adequate interference fits to meet requirements over life, tolerance range and thermal range
Integration of advanced thermal solutions for battery packs
CAD modeling in close collaboration with other members of the team
Developing technical concepts optimizing system-level solutions
Support the release of the product into production
Generate 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings using 3DX Experience
Create basic CAE models to validate and verify designs
Participate and chair mechanical design reviews
Creation of tolerance stack analysis
Peer review of solutions, calculations, reports and design rational
Supplier and customer engagement
CAD modeling of production-ready solutions undertaking DFM-DFA studies
Selection of suitable materials for parts
Defining mechanical and adhesive joints
Create and manage design requirements from PDS
Ensure product solutions are compliant to relevant international standards
Component validation plans and test methods
Technical drawings and production documentation to relevant ISO standards
Tolerance analysis to ensure functional performance at limits
Involved in prototypeassembly and testing teams during product operation
Supporting product lifecycle through manufacturing up to the validation process
Validation of designs through calculations
Contribute to DFMEAs
Design of Jigs and fixtures to help realize builds to your designs
Where required work with the Head of Department to implement and improve business processes
Leading engineers where required, either through technical leadership or people management
Qualifications 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
3+ years of experience with CATIA V5 or other CAD SW
Experience with assemblies and multi–model links
Experience with PLM system and design methodologies
Understanding of electro-mechanical components
Extensive manufacturing experience is a plus covering Injection molding
Stamped parts
Machining
Rapid prototyping
Fluent in English language, both written and verbal
Automotive experience is a plus
