Central Office Payroll/Benefits Coordinator

Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, April 20, 2026 12:00 AM (Central Standard Time).

Job Description

8 hours/day, 240 days per year

Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent, Director of Finance

Job Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent

Specific Duties:

* Prepare payroll for all employees making appropriate deductions for federal, state, FICA, Medicare, retirement, insurances, and dues.
* Maintain accruals and files for sick and personal leave, classified timesheets, and certified employment reports.
* Maintain and monitor employees’ leave reports.
* Maintain a current substitute teacher directory for all school principals and secretaries.
* Assist with the required employee criminal background checks.
* Maintain current job postings.
* Assist with the administration of the online applications for certified, classified, and substitute positions.
* Assist new/terminating employees regarding benefits and procedures.
* Assist with filing and retaining current and permanent documents and reports for employees.
* Assist with personnel record requests, experience verifications and employment verifications.
* Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports for unemployment, worker’s compensation, Internal Revenue Service, Kentucky Revenue Cabinet, Teachers’ Retirement System, Kentucky Public Pensions Authority, Kentucky Department of Education, Kentucky Department of Personnel, U.S. Department of Labor and others as required.
* Assist the director of finance with budget preparation, project budget reports, and deposits.
* Provide training and assistance to staff for procedures and software applications.
* Monitor discrepancies and changes in payroll-related data and notify proper authorities.
* Assist with the administration of the Lyon County Dental Plan as guided by the director of finance.
* Maintain all claims and assist injured employees with forms and requirements for worker’s compensation.
* Perform other duties assigned by the director of finance or superintendent.
