Adsorption Specialist (Process Modelling & Simulation)

About the Role
novoMOF is hiring an Adsorption Specialist with technical expertise and proven track record in the simulation and optimization of adsorption-based separation processes. This position bridges the gap between advanced material performance and scalable process design — with a strong focus on isotherm and diffusion simulations, entire process simulation, and the development of next-generation carbon capture technologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead development of carbon capture processes for industrial applications, including post-combustion carbon capture and Direct Air Capture (DAC) contexts.
* Conduct process modelling and simulation of PSA and TSA or combination thereof systems on solid sorbents.
* Use existing or self developed tools to simulate adsorption isotherms and predict behaviour, based on appropriately fitted models.
* Model breakthrough curves to evaluate dynamic separation performance.
* Perform detailed heat and mass transfer analysis.
* Optimize and develop process configurations to meet performance, energy, and cost objectives.
* Design and support the operation of TSA/PSA rigs for lab- and pilot-scale carbon capture systems.
Key Skills & Experience
* Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field.
* Strong track record in process simulation and adsorption process design.
* Hands-on experience with AspenTech software (or similar), especially Aspen Adsorption and Aspen Plus.
* Proficiency in isotherm and diffusion modelling using GCMC and MD.
* In-depth understanding of heat and mass transfer in adsorption systems.
* Experience in designing, modeling, and testing PSA/TSA units for CO₂ capture or similar applications.
* Independent, analytical thinker with a collaborative and pragmatic working style.
