Job Description – Automation OT Technician
Overview
As an Automation OT Technician, you will be part of the Automation group and act as the bridge between Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT), within a GMP‑regulated manufacturing environment.
Your main mission is to ensure that the systems running production industrial computers, servers, networks, and automation layers remain secure,
updated, reliable, and fully compliant with pharmaceutical/chemical/food industry standards.
This role combines technical troubleshooting, system maintenance, cybersecurity, documentation, and coordination with multiple internal teams.
Primary Duties
Technical Support & Operations (≈90%)
* Provide daily technical support for the OT infrastructure and the IT components of the PCS (Process Control System).
* Manage Windows and application patching (assessment, testing, deployment).
* Maintain OT cybersecurity measures and participate in improving system security.
* Handle data exchange layers such as OPC UA.
* Investigate system issues, analyse root causes, and propose solutions.
* Collaborate with IT, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Validation teams to ensure smooth system operation.
* Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation including functional and design specifications.
* Support audits by providing documentation and technical explanations.
Training & Administrative Tasks (≈10%)
* Contribute to change control processes.
* Prepare final technical documentation for validation and compliance.
* Share knowledge with team members and provide internal trainings where required.
Education & Experience Requirements
Essential Qualifications
* Degree in Industrial IT or Automation OT (CFC, ES Technician, or equivalent).
* 2–3 years of Experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or food industry.
* Knowledge of GMP environment, validation processes, and change management.
* Strong command of Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
* Fluent in French and able to understand and write technical English.
Key Technical Skills
* Experience with Windows patching and application update processes.
* Good understanding of OPC UA and industrial data management layers.
* Experience writing functional and design specifications.
* Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
* Familiarity with standard IT tools and troubleshooting methods.
* Ability to work autonomously, with rigor, method, and team spirit.
Nice-to-Have (Assets)
* Cybersecurity Experience in industrial environments.
* Networking knowledge (routing, subnets, VLANs, firewall rules).
* Experience with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP).
* Linux OS Experience (system support, updates).
* Understanding of SCADA, HMI, or industrial communication protocols.
* SQL or Oracle database skills.

* Prioritize tasks in alignment with supervisors and production requirements.

* Contribute to changes by working with change control owners.
