Position Summary
As a Category Development Manager, you will adopt, enrich and implement the central Nestlé Purina Europe (NPPE) category strategy in the local Swiss market. You will put into practice the local channel strategy with a clear focus on the Specialist channel (Pet Superstores) as well as the E‑commerce channel. You will also be working closely with the local Sales and Marketing teams to deliver superior category growth, a comprehensive channel and distribution strategy, and solid execution of our portfolio and promotional strategy at the POS.
A Day in the Life of a Category Development Manager
* Support key customers in shaping their category strategy and exploiting the full growth potential, by supporting them analytically, building their capabilities and understanding of the category, leveraging the data at hand
* Lead promotional planning & evaluation with internal team and customers
* Bridge and align between Marketing/Brand & Customer/Sales Plans as part of the Integrated Commercial Planning process
* Build & recommend assortment priorities, propose assortment and distribution optimizations, and identify growth opportunities. Make recommendations for shelf layouts to customers.
* Analyze shopper trends and needs in the Swiss context, to identify appropriate Shopper Activation strategies (based on shopper studies, shopper data and promo analysis)
* Lead & execute effective Shopper Activation campaigns with customers and support Multi‑brand activations across all customers.
* Lead the SKU management process incl. customization for the entire Business Unit, helping to shape the portfolio strategy
* Drive Purina’s e‑business and digital shelf strategy, in close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including optimizing and executing RDM.
* Support and coach the eContent Specialist, jointly planning and executing the eContent roadmap, ensuring timely delivery to customers and leading specific eContent optimization projects.
What will make you successful
* University degree in management, marketing or equivalent
* Proven experience in category management, trade marketing, sales or marketing
* Experience in e‑commerce/digital is a plus
* Strong analytical skills and ability to understand insights and data from several sources
* Highly developed strategic thinking capabilities
* Collaborative personality with entrepreneurial drive
* Convincing and winning personality capable of fostering customer relationships
* Fluent in English; German (and French) is a plus
